I am scheduled for banding on Tuesday, September 1.  What advice, if any, do you have to help me through this next week or two.  I am going into this “new Journey” full of anticipation but with my eyes wide open, knowing that it won’t always be easy.

Just take it one day at a time.  I am sure you have already done your research and know that this is the right thing for you to do.  Do not allow the doubts and fears to creep into your head because they will do nothing but rob you of the excitement of beginning this new journey.  WLSC has given you all of the instructions you need, at least I had all of the information I needed.  Stay close to this web-site and any others you may have found.  Glean all of the information you can from them regarding the next few months.  Most importantly, realize that this is a journey that will not happen overnight yet before long you will look back and wonder at how quick the time has flown by and how many positive changes you have experienced in that short (1.5 years) amount of time.

Let us know how your surgery went as soon as you are able.  Feel free to ask questions because we have all been there and had our own questions that we asked be it on a web-site such as this or in person to a fellow bandster.

Live by the hand-outs and you will be fine. The first 4-6 weeks will entail healing and a limited diet so that you may heal on the inside. Emotionally, you will feel strong as you are in control and moving forward. I would love to hear how you are doing over the next few days, best wishes to you and keep looking up!

I would second what everyone has said. Also, I would add that you plan to give some time to yourself to relax and heal. Don’t be concerned about getting up and going too quickly. The first few weeks will go by faster than you would expect and it will be worth it from start to finish. When the times get tough eating liquids and mushy foods remind yourself why you did this in the first place. That helped me get over the humps of those first few weeks. Good luck and let us know how things go for you!

My advice is get up and walk around as much as you can it will help with the Gas.  Also, focus on heeling.  Keep your chin up and congrats on your surgery!

The surgery went great.  I am surprised how little pain I actually have felt.  Oh, I do have pain but is nothing like I anticipated.—nothing tylenol won’t take care of.  This post-op diet really puts things in perpective.  Tomorrow I get full liquids!!!  Yeah!  I am excited to get to know each of you because I don’t know anyone sharing my journey and would love to have others who understand to chat with.

Hi!
Full Liquids will help you out quite a bit (I believe yogurt is on that list and it really helps you feel like you have ate something solid). Giving you some much needed energy! I am so glad you are feeling good and having little pain. I remember being so sore every time I moved and turned. I look forward to chatting with you too! Take Care,
Joan

I am having my daughter and husband have surgery.  How to prepare food for a teenager and her 40 year old dad? I also have a 13 year old son, that does not have a weight problem.  Its difficult to prepare for both.
