I will begin receiving Medicare benefits in August. Does Medicare pay for the band procedure if you meet the criteria?
Medicare does cover the band, but the surgery has to be performed in an in-patient facility certified for Medicare in order for them to pay. Since we are a out-patient surgery center and not a hospital, we cannot perform Medicare band surgeries here. We are hopeful to open an inpatient facility in the fall of 2010.
Our clinics do accept Medicare, so you can still rely on us for all your future band adjustments.
