December’s Des Moines LAP-BAND Support Group is scheduled for Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 7 p.m. All Weight Loss Surgical Center patients are welcome, as well as people who have had bariatric procedures of other types or from other practices. People who are interested in LAP-BAND surgery and have questions about what to expect are welcome, too.

I’ve created a Facebook event, so any Facebook users can RSVP and invite friends to attend, as well:

Don’t forget to become a fan while you’re there!

Adam - is this meeting still on and did you want people to pre-register? I know there has been low attendance with the weather and what not the last few months, so I wanted to check to see what the status is. Thanks!

Is West Des Moines still having support meetings? I just got banded last Friday and would like to start attending them. I haven’t heard anything via my email since Dyann left.

Danielle and Bruce were a couple steps ahead of me on this one. Looks like they’re relaunching the West Des Moines Support Group on March 11 at 6 p.m. I posted a new topic on it here: http://www.moreoflife.com/forum/viewthread/136/

Puppy Dog Training Part 1. Master These Particular Seven Wonder Potty Training Methods - And Just Don’t Be Deprived Of Your Friends And Family!

Anyone loves your brand-new puppy—until it pees upon them. Pups are generally very funny, so lovely, and like mischievous youngsters, best when educated to behave! They bite and also chew up every thing, from prized household furniture to your friends’ toes or maybe finest shoes or boots, and maybe most painful, urinate everywhere! That is why, housebreaking will be the earliest worry you must tackle once you bring home the new pup.

Established Puppy Toilet Training Beginning Tips

1. Be aware. Your daily life has just altered once and for all. If you have ever taken a baby home, bringing a new pup home possesses parallels. That lovable little puppy will be reliant on you for all sorts of things. The earlier you are able to adjust then the better daily life is going to be for all - you, all your family, your friends, and of course, for the puppy dog.

2. Almost everyone inside the family is certainly on duty, especially during the early stages. You have fundamentally taken on the same commitment that a new child calls for. Your brand-new member of the family requires your energy, hard cash, affection, breathing space, and tolerance.

3. Puppies, similar to humans, learn at diverse rates. There are no rewards for first place, and teaching doesn’t have to be accomplished tomorrow. Just simply pay attention to helping your dog avoid problems and softly establish the practices that assure success. Again, just as with young children, duplication and reassurance are definitely the keys for achievement and contentment.

4. You must show them that there is a ‘right’ in addition to ‘not-right’ time and place to ‘go for the toilet’. Szczeniaki really don’t come with a built-in “I-need-to-pee-outside” monitor. This needless to say really needs to be trained by you.

5. Never believe that just to open up the door and let the dog play outside will be ‘potty training’. If it happens just then, well it would have taken place anywhere - inside or perhaps outside.

6. Young puppies are of course dogs (!!?), and as a result they like to mark out its territory. The good thing, though, is always that young dogs, just like guys like us, like to have thoroughly clean mattresses. What this means is a reduced amount of laundering for you personally - but you should watch they don’t acquire the habit of going just alongside their particular bed frames.

7. Somebody is going to have to be in your own home also as soon as the pup commences its training. No one (and certainly no doggy) holds on for a full day whilst everyone’s out at work. The pup will be able to hang on for one hour for each month it has been alive, plus an additional hour. Therefore, of course this means it has to be nine months old before it may possibly last the probable period you’ll be away at work. What to do? A year off work!? Have no worry, there is a technique I provide later on about ‘paper training’ your puppy.

To discover the remainder of the simple housebreaking strategies which will (a) make you pleased;
(b) continue to keep your spouse and children and good friends content;
