Dr. Julie Heise is the Director of Anesthesiology at Weight Loss Surgical Center, where she specializes in bariatric anesthesia.
Obese or morbidly obese patients face a higher risk for anesthetic complications due to anatomic variation and comorbidities that often accompany obesity. Obesity is associated with hypertension, dyslipidemia, ischemic heart disease, diabetes mellitus, osteoarthritis, liver disease, obstructive sleep apnea and asthma. Both surgery and anesthesia place stress on the cardiac, pulmonary, and other organ systems.
Dr. Heise takes great care to get patients through surgery safely. Often times this means working with the patients’ primary care physicians to ensure that chronic medical problems are stable and optimized prior to lap band surgery.
Dr. Heise is a board-certified anesthesiologist who trained at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She graduated from medical school at the University of Missouri- Kansas City. She served as assistant professor at UMKC while she provided care for patients at Truman Medical Center – Hospital Hill and St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City.

I miss the Yahoo group, it was much easier to get messages when it came straight to my email. It seemed like we had a broader base of banders or potential banders there,too. Or, maybe I just haven’t figure out how this blogging stuff really works.
