Halloween’s tomorrow: Three ways to set a good example

Friday October 30 2009

If you're reading this blog, you're probably concerned with weight issues and are probably already aware of the childhood obesity epidemic in this country. Halloween presents an interesting challenge for people who want to celebrate this autumn tradition but also want to set a good example when it comes to health.

Here are some treat ideas instead of sugary snacks:

Something active: Give out bouncy expletive or another bulk party favor toy you can find at most party supply stores.

Something creative: Give out small boxes of crayons, stickers or mini tubs of Play Doh.

Something healthy: You can give out snacks that aren't candy. Consider: individually wrapped beef jerky or cheese snacks, apples or even granola bars.

If you're creative with your treats, you really can set a good example without being on the receiving end of a Halloween trick.
