Even though most LAP-BAND Patients know not to drink water (or any other liquid) with meals, lest the fluid carry the food right through the band, but it is very important to remember to get plenty of water outside of meal times.
Consider the following five facts about water and weight:
1. Water is the most important nutrient in our diet and required to maintain the balance of the normal body state.
2. Water is important in regulating cell volume, nutrient transport, waste removal and body temperature.
3. Our bodies can’t store excess water for future use. Daily drinking is essential for body functions.
4. Water suppresses the appetite and helps the body metabolize stored fat.
5. Overweight people need more water than other people because it aids fat metabolism.
