Blogging for Weight Loss

Thursday October 15 2009

A couple months ago I posted a list of bloggers who had LAP-BAND surgeries and used their blog for support, motivation and accountability.

I regularly search for new blogs and I find all kinds of interesting suggestions and conversations happening on the Internet about losing weight with LAP-BAND Surgeries. Here's my question to you: have you considered adding your voice?

You may have some helpful insight for someone Googling around on the Internet for a topic you have experienced, and your thoughts or story may be helpful. Writing a blog may actually also be helpful for you, though.

I've seen bloggers use their blogs as public journals to talk about the things going on in their lives, so they can get support from a lot of people and let all their friends know their struggles without having to re-hash details again and again. I've also seen bloggers talking about their experiences with their doctors and asking for advice on improving that relationship. And I've seen a great number of people posting their weight and non-scale victory milestones for all to see.

If you're interested in starting a blog about your weight loss surgery, I encourage you to do so. Invite your friends and family to see it, and encourage them to help you hold yourself accountable. You may even attract some like-minded readers who will add to your social support network, which is very important for successful weight loss.

One really easy, entry-level tool is blogger, located at blogspot.com. Just follow the instructions, and you'll be set up with your own blog in just a few minutes.

Once you've got it up and running, be sure to share it with us here on BandedTogether, our online LAP-BAND Support Group.
