5 ways water helps you lose weight

Does drinking water really help you lose weight? The answer is yes, and it's a lot more important to your weight loss journey than you may think!


1. Water increases your body's ability to metabolize (burn) fat.

2. Drinking water helps decrease and suppress your appetite.

3. The more water you drink, the less food you will generally consume. Drink at least 8, eight-ounce glasses of water every day. But if you're overweight, drink an additional glass for every twenty-five pounds of excess weight.

4. Drinking water helps get rid of the salt in your body. This helps release excess water that is stored in the cells which leads to edema (swelling).

5. Drinking cool or cold water is preferred. It's absorbed much faster and cold water may burn more calories.
